During the end of 2021 VAMOS had the opportunity to share the usefulness of Virtual Exchange
as a tool for tackling sustainable development at a workshop webinar. The workshop was part of
the BEST Exchange (Brazilian, Belgian, Estonian, Swedish Teacher Exchange) program, which is
funded by the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service). BEST-exchange provides
international experiences (virtual and physical) to students of teacher education from all 5
partner universities – with the aim of increasing the mobility of students and teaching staff in
the field of teacher education and foster the international connections of the centre of teacher
education.
The presentation was held by Fanny Jonsson, project manager for VAMOS, and Dr. Libia Patricia
Peralta of Federal University of Technology in Paraná (UTFPR) in Curitiba, Brazil. Most
attendants were students, who got to participate in a webinar that introduced the fundamentals
of VE and covered the experience of working with VE-teachings during VAMOS development.
After the presentation, participants had an open discussion on the skills they had developed
through VE – which provided promising insights on the potential of what the VAMOS pilot
courses can do for students in the future!
